It’s a good seven days for eating, with two fun events coming up.
• The first is tomorrow, November 12, at 6 p.m. at The Famous: the Jax Vineyards Wine Dinner. The five-course meal is paired with five wines, and includes plates like smoked pork belly, braised oxtail and Shigoku oysters. Tickets are $100; call Coaltrain Wine & Spirits if interested.
If you’re not familiar with Jax, the winery says, “The vision is to produce high quality wines, with a chic label, and fair price point.” Here’s a look at the menu and pairings:
• The second is a star-studded event for a good cause. The Chefs to the Rescue dinner — described as “an L.A.-style Pop Up dinner featuring rescued food and Colorado Springs’ hottest celebrity chefs” — features four courses telling “a tale of creativity and improvisational skill.” Cooking will be chefs Kevin Campbell, Jason Miller, Nate Dirnberger, David McDonough and Jennifer Bostick.
Held at the Mining Exchange on Wednesday, November 18 at 6:30 p.m., the dinner costs $100 with a live/silent auction and live music to accompany, and all proceeds benefit the good people at Colorado Springs Food Rescue and Seeds Community Cafe.
Towards that end, Seeds updated that “we just received a bounty of peppers, pumpkins, green tomatoes, onions, garlic, winter squash, leeks, parsnips, and butternut squash to use in Chefs to the Rescue event” from Venetucci Farm.
