On Tuesday, February 13, from 5:40 a.m. until 8:40 a.m. RMFR had the chance to highlight Valentine’s Day cocktails by Colorado Springs’ bartenders with Montana Horsfall, president/wine and spirits specialist of Craft Cocktail Inc. During “Live & Local” on FOX21 News with Lauren McDonald, we utilize Colorado spirits and focus on area businesses to create the segment: “Pour up the Passion: Valentine’s Day cocktail recipes.”

The Red Velvet by Winn Kirkpatrick
•2 oz 360 Madagascar Vanilla Vodka
•1/2 oz sweet and sour mix
•1 oz pineapple juice
• 1/4 oz Grenadine
•1 oz Sprite
Shake and strain the first four ingredients, then top with Sprite.

•1.5 oz Lee Spirits Co. strawberry ginger gin
•.75 oz fresh lemon juice
•.75 oz Aperol
•.25 oz (2-1) simple syrup
•Sparkling wine
Shake and strain the first four ingredients into a champagne flute and then top with bubbles. Garnish with a strawberry slice.

•2 oz Colorado rye whiskey
•.5 oz raw simple syrup
•2 dashes of Aztec chocolate bitters
•3 dashes of cherry bitters
Build in rocks glass over ice and simply stir. Garnish with a Luxardo cherry.

•1.5 oz house creme de cocao
•4 dashes of Angostura bitters
Spritz chilled coupe glass with saline solution and rim the edge with an orange peel. Stir and strain ingredients.
