Tomorrow brings the grand opening of The Cheese Shop at Cherokee’s, a new spot at 351 Manitou Avenue in Manitou Springs offering local cheeses, jams and charcuterie. Products include Red Rock Relish, Modern Gingham Preserves, JoJo’s Sriracha and Trü Pickles.
“This has been a dream of mine for a while, and I’m finally getting to give it a shot,” says owner Cari Thomason in an email to the Food Report. “I worked as an importer/buyer for the largest cheese distributor in the U.S., but my husband’s career in the military had us moving too much to ever open up my own shop.”
See all the goodies for yourself at the opening from 5 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. The parking options are at the store, across the street at the Chamber of Commerce or two doors down at Uncle Sam’s Pancake House.
“Unfortunately, our license to sell wine and/or serve is stuck in government red tape,” the store wrote May 26. “So we won’t be able to do pairings at the opening. But the Manitou Wine festival is happening the same day down at the park. So you can go before and try some Colorado wines, then come to the shop and sample some Colorado cheese afterwards!”
