The Broadmoor is usually Colorado Springs’ answer for elite-level dining, and there’s some juicy opportunities coming up in 2016. Last year’s Taste and Savor event — which was formerly its Salute to Escoffier — has morphed into a multi-month bonanza now called Taste and Savor: A Moveable Feast.

The packages come as weekend events each month through May, and include fun stuff like the hotel’s Pinot Posse wine dinners at the Summit, and chocolate tastings with Valrhona.

In our humble opinion, the real highlights come in March, April and May when Denver luminaries like restaurateur Frank Bonanno, mixologist Sean Kenyon (Williams & Graham) and chef and farmer Alex Seidel (Fruition) come to town.

Here are the details verbatim from a hotel press release:

January 15-17: Pinot Posse

The weekend offers a series of seminars and a special evening at The Broadmoor’s Summit restaurant showcasing some of the country’s best Pinot Noir winemakers alongside Chef Mark Musial’s special menu to mark the restaurant’s 10-year anniversary.

Winemakers include Andrew Vingiello, AP Vin;  Ed Kurtzman,  August West; Jenne Bonaccorsi, Bonaccorsi; Jim Prosser, JK Carriere; Craig Strelow, Camlow Keefer Ranch; David O’Reilly, Owen Roe; Dan Kosta, Kosta Browne; and Peter Cargasacchi, Cargasacchi.

February 5-6: Chocolate and Champagne

A weekend of sweet and savory indulgence with gourmet chocolates and cooking demonstration from renowned chocolatier Valrhona paired with bubbly from Champagne Taittinger. Ecole Valrhona Pastry Chef Derek Poirier teaches guests how to make their own chocolate confections at home while experts from Champagne Taittinger demonstrate the perfect combination of bubbles and chocolate.

March 11-12: Frank Bonanno and Jay Fletcher

Enjoy a weekend with celebrated chef Frank Bonanno as he showcases his dedication to fresh, simple ingredients. A pasta-making seminar offers a no-fail method for guests to easily make fresh pasta in the comfort of their own kitchen. As a rare treat, Chef Bonanno commandeers The Broadmoor’s Ristorante del Lago on Saturday night, introducing guests to the authentic Italian dishes found at his acclaimed Denver restaurant, Luca. Master Sommelier Jay Fletcher of Southern Wine and Spirits offers a “Wines of the Region” seminar and introduces distinctive Italian wine pairings to complement each course at the Saturday night dinner.

April 15-16: Sean Kenyon

Award-winning mixologist Sean Kenyon, of Denver’s Williams & Graham, comes to The Broadmoor for a very special weekend of cocktails, upscale “state fair” cuisine from his new restaurant, The Occidental, and a spirited round of bowling at PLAY at The Broadmoor.

May 13-14: Alex Seidel

Chef Alex Seidel, owner of Fruition and Mercantile Dining and Provision restaurants in Denver, comes to The Broadmoor’s Natural Epicurean restaurant to showcase how locally sourced components enhance his award-winning cuisine. On Saturday, guests travel to Chef Seidel’s Fruition Farms to learn how he grows, raises, and sources fresh produce, including his line of sheep’s milk cheeses, for both the restaurants and his European-style market.

Each weekend package includes:

  • Luxury accommodations on Friday and Saturday nights
  • Friday evening reception
  • Saturday morning and afternoon seminars
  • Saturday evening dinner
  • World-famous Sunday brunch in The Broadmoor’s Lake Terrace Dining Room (please call (719) 577-5771 to make a reservation)

Package prices start at $725 per person, plus applicable taxes and gratuity, based on double occupancy. Space is limited. For more information about The Broadmoor’s Moveable Feast series and to make a reservation, please call (844) 202-3481 or visit this link.
