Distillery 291 rakes up the accolades in 2018 with a milelong list of successful nods, most recently being named the People’s Choice Award winner at Breckenridge Craft Spirits Festival “Still on the Hill” (for the fourth time in five years) and bringing home double gold at the 8th annual New York World Wine & Spirits Competition. Yet 291 manages to keep the momentum going strong with the surprise release of batch #4 and #5 of their “E” series on Wednesday, November 7, at 5 p.m. in the tasting room. The joint celebration features limited release bottles on display, specialty cocktails and live music from Grant Sabin from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. In a press release 291 explains their experimental series as “an opportunity for our company to think outside the box and push our limits. Every batch of “E” is released at barrel proof and unique from anything else we make.”

“For the first time in our company history, we are releasing two Distillery 291 “E” Whiskeys simultaneously,” says Michael Myers, Distillery 291 founder. “Every batch is unique yet complementary to the 291 ‘E’ line.”

291 shares with RMFR that although both are single malt versions made in the classic, Western style, each batch offers distinct and varying flavor profiles. 291 “E” Batch #4 yields hints of sugar cane, anejo tequila, dried tobacco leaves, carnations, buttered toast, caramel, with subtleties of sandalwood, jicama, and an old, dusty wool poncho that weighs in at 122.2 proof. 291 “E” Batch #5 provides a sweeter approach with notes of caramel, cinnamon roll, anejo tequila, heavily toasted raisin bread, honey, allspice, with marzipan and toffee at 124.1 proof.

“This is an exciting opportunity to taste two 291 American single malt whiskeys side by side,” says Myers. “Our fun-loving team took inspiration from Beyonce’s album drop, and decided to keep the releases secret until the date they were available in the sales market.”
