  • Mumbo Jumbo Gumbo Cook-Off: Manitou Springs’ nod to Mardi Gras starts with gumbo and ends in a parade. Cook-off judging and public tastings starts at 10:45 a.m. Open to both amateur cooks and professional chefs — contact the Manitou Chamber of Commerce at 685-0355 for details.   • Aztec Chocolatl Release Party: According to Fossil, “It is believed that the Aztecs accidentally created chocolate by trying to make beer, so we took our Stone Age Stout and added cacao nibs and espresso beans to create the ultimate early American beverage.” Taste their effort — in collaboration with Radiantly Raw and Stir — today with other chocolate and beer pairings.   • Ninth Annual Smokebrush Porter Release Party: The release of Bristol Brewing Company’s yearly porter helps fund the Smokebrush Foundation, as well as the release of the commemorative label, designed by local artist Langdon Foss.   • Vegan Drinks for a Cause: Colorado Springs Vegan & Vegetarian Group’s monthly gathering, led by vegan life coach and RMFR contributor JL Fields.   • Bristol’s 12th Annual Firkin Rendezvous: A local tradition devoted to cask ales from Colorado breweries. Sample from 37 participants, including: Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project, Loveland Aleworks, Copper Kettle Brewing Company, and local outfits like Smiling Toad Brewery, Iron Bird Brewing Co., Fieldhouse Brewing Co., and of course, Bristol. 21 and up only. $15-$60.   • Celebrity Bartending: A benefit for the Colorado Springs Philharmonic in which tips and 10 percent of all sales from the evening going toward its community programs. Order from local celebs including the Philharm’s conductor Thomas Wilson and music director Josep Caballé-Domenech, Linda Weise of the Colorado Springs Conservatory, Susan Edmondson of the Downtown Partnership, George Preston of KCME Classical Music Radio and others.   • Winter Farm-to-Table Dinner: An evening to benefit the El Pueblo History Museum with cocktails, followed by a four-course paired menu featuring cuisine from Chef Ernie Duncan and wine from Shannon Speaks of Synergy Fine Wines. Both the regular and vegetarian menu will feature goods from Colorado farms. Proceeds from the event will fund El Pueblo’s Hands-On History after-school program. $55 for members, $65 for non-members.
