Getting outside and exploring is the Colorado way and something we at RMFR intentionally integrate into as many of our food focused adventures as we possibly can. With that sentiment in mind, we make a habit of road tripping around Colorado and headed down south to stay at LOGE Camps to experience the beauty of South Fork, Colorado, with it’s breathtaking mountain views and proximity to numerous ski resorts, Mesa Verde National Park and Durango, all with a distinctive SoCO serenity still intact.

We connect with Slate Olson, Chief Marketing Officer at LOGE Camps to chat about the new accommodations they offer in South Fork, to discern why their way of thinking outside of the box, or rooms so to speak, is the perfect fit for Colorado travelers.

“If you’ve stayed at one of our Camps before, you know that LOGE is pronounced ‘Lodge’ and the acronym stands for “LIVE OUTSIDE, GO EXPLORE,” says Olson. “It’s the hotel that gets you outdoors. Whatever you’re into: Ski. Surf. Hike. Climb. Ride. Fish. Moto. etc., being outside is more than an activity, it’s a way of life.”

RMFR: What differentiates LOGE from other accommodations/hospitality brands in Colorado?

SO: LOGE is more than just a place to stay; it’s an experience designed for outdoor enthusiasts, adventurers, and those seeking a deeper connection with nature. Here are a few key differentiators that make LOGE unique:

  1. Emphasis on Outdoor Culture: At LOGE, we celebrate and embrace the outdoor lifestyle that Colorado is known for. Our properties are strategically located in close proximity to some of the region’s most breathtaking natural wonders, offering unparalleled access to outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, skiing, and more. We understand that our guests are passionate about the outdoors, and we curate experiences that cater to their adventurous spirit.

  2. Community and Social Interaction: LOGE is all about fostering a sense of community among our guests. We believe that the best experiences are the ones shared with others who have similar passions. Our communal spaces, such as fire pits, outdoor seating areas, and adventure lounges, provide opportunities for guests to connect, share stories, and create lasting memories. We also organize regular events and activities, like group hikes or live music performances, to further enhance the sense of camaraderie among our guests.

  1. Unique Accommodation Options: We offer a diverse range of accommodation options to suit different preferences and group sizes. Whether it’s a cozy lodge room, a rustic cabin, or a campsite for those who prefer to sleep under the stars, LOGE has something for everyone. Our accommodations are thoughtfully designed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding natural environment, providing a comfortable and authentic experience.

  2. Sustainability and Environmental Stewardship: LOGE is committed to minimizing our environmental footprint and promoting sustainability. We strive to incorporate eco-friendly practices into our operations, such as using renewable energy sources, implementing recycling programs, and partnering with local organizations dedicated to conservation efforts. By choosing LOGE, guests can be confident that they are supporting a brand that prioritizes the preservation of the natural beauty that Colorado has to offer.

  3. Adventure-driven Amenities: Our amenities are tailored to the needs of outdoor enthusiasts. We provide equipment rentals, such as bikes, skis, and outdoor gear, allowing our guests to explore the surrounding areas without the hassle of bringing their own equipment. Additionally, our properties often feature amenities like gear drying rooms, bike repair stations, and outdoor wash areas, ensuring that our guests have everything they need for their adventures.

RMFR: Is affordability important to appeal to your target audience? Who is your target audience to stay and play at LOGE?

SO: Affordability plays a significant role in appealing to our target audience. We recognize that outdoor enthusiasts come from diverse backgrounds and have varying budgets. Therefore, we place great importance on offering accommodations at different price points to ensure inclusivity and accessibility. Our target audience comprises adventure seekers, nature lovers, and individuals seeking a sense of community and connection during their travels.

RMFR: How many LOGE locations are there in Colorado? The Rocky Mountain Region? The U.S.?

SO: LOGE currently operates one location in Colorado. However, the brand is continuously expanding, and adding additional properties. We just announced five new locations on the east coast—from Asheville, NC to Southport, ME—that will all open in 2024. Soon to open LOGE locations near CO include St. George, UT and Taos, NM.

RMFR: Can you speak to the food & beverage options you provide at the South Fork location?

SO: At our South Fork location, we take pride in offering a diverse selection of food and beverage options to cater to our guests’ preferences. Our culinary offerings feature regional coffee roasters and breweries,  and locally sourced ingredients to ensure quality and to also support the regional community. From wholesome grab-and-go snacks to a carefully curated beverage menu that includes craft beers and specialty cocktails, we strive to provide a satisfying dining experience that celebrates the flavors of the area. Please note that specific offerings may vary based on seasonal availability and guest demand.

RMFR: What is it about South Fork that prompted you to set up your brand there versus other areas of Colorado?

SO: South Fork, Colorado, was chosen as a LOGE location due to its unique combination of natural beauty, abundant outdoor recreational opportunities, and the welcoming nature of its community. Surrounded by the awe-inspiring San Juan Mountains, this destination offers access to pristine wilderness areas and national forests, appealing to outdoor enthusiasts seeking adventure and exploration. Furthermore, South Fork’s warm and inclusive community aligns seamlessly with our brand’s values of fostering camaraderie and connection among guests. The town’s inviting atmosphere and genuine hospitality make it an ideal location for establishing a LOGE property, providing our guests with an authentic and memorable experience. In addition, Wolf Creek Ski Resort is an absolute gem—Not quite hidden but definitely a spot more people should be skiing. And, while Pagosa Springs on the other side of the Divide has blown up, South Fork is still a place yet to be fully discovered. Close to Creede, right on some of the best fly fishing rivers, it’s a quiet giant in that part of the world.
