Slow Foods Pikes Peak presents the second annual Jerald Bridgman Education Fund Benefit at The Warehouse Restaurant & Gallery on Monday, November 20, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with chef James Africano and chef Jay Gust of Pizzeria Rustica and TAPAteria. Jerald Bridgman, one of the chapter’s founders, is the namesake for the fund with the intention to support educational initiatives and encourage public awareness of food traditions and proper stewardship of the environment.

The 2017 grantees and presenters include:

Each guest receives a  flight of three high-end wines courtesy of a private local cellar with locally made charcuterie and appetizers. Additional wine tastings are available as well as non-alcoholic beverages and happy hour cocktails. Wine curators responsible for the selection are Dirk Stamp, owner of The Wine Seller, and Chris West, founder of Colorado Wine Events.

Tickets are $40 per person with $20 of the purchase price serving as a direct donation to the grant fund.

Sakura Takeover at Axe and the Oak Whiskey House is on Monday, November 20, from 5:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. Sakura Speakeasy mixologists, Dylan Currier and Shayne Baldwin, typically operate behind a secret door inside of Rooster’s House of Ramen, but for one-night-only Asian-style ingredients, like lychee and yuzu (a Japanese citrus with a lemony, floral profile), blend with spirits from Axe and the Oak.

“We’re going to keep it simple with three cocktails each,” says Currier “We’ll use bourbon, hillshine and make one bartender’s choice drink based on guests’ preferences.”
