We’re just a month away from one of the best food events of the year: The Pikes Peak Food & Wine Expo from the Pikes Peak Chapter of the Colorado Restaurant Association. Between noon and 3 p.m. on March 6 at the Broadmoor World Arena, the 21st Food Expo will feature samplings from over 60 local restaurants, as well as wine, beer and spirits tastings.
“The purpose of the Food & Wine Expo is to raise money to give back to our community supporting programs such as ProStart, an educational program that introduces high school kids to the restaurant industry,” reads a press release. “We also make a large donation to the Marian House and have formed a great partnership to support their efforts here in Colorado Springs.”
There’s fun all over the place though, including a culinary competition where chefs are paired with local media personalities, as well as a cocktail competition that will be judged in part by yours truly. Spin the Wheel of Good Taste to win $25 gift certificates to local restaurants, or bid during a silent auction from noon to 2 p.m.
“For 20 years restaurants, along with wine and beer purveyors, have been gathering for this ‘taste of’ event,” says the PPCRA. “The 21st annual Pikes Peak Food & Wine Expo has grown into one of the biggest and longest-running food and beverage tasting events in the Pikes Peak region!”
