This is a brunch post — though let me be clear: The meal is more awesomely described as “blunch,” a battle I’ve been waging on Twitter — about the Sunday fare at Springs Orleans. Yesterday, I had the good fortune to accompany my wife Edie, who’s writing a piece about the hotel, for a weekend meal, and here’s what we found.

The Sunday brunch is $25 per person, with the possibility of adding bottomless mimosas for an extra $10. The buffet offers a nice mix of traditional (carved turkey, French toast, breakfast meat) and regional entrées (shrimp étouffée, chicken-and-sausage gumbo, Creole country potatoes), with Colorado flare (green chili) thrown in for fun.

For a quick thought on the food: The French toast had been toughening under the heat for a while, but the boozy Bananas Foster topping was killer, as were the New Orleans entrées and some ridiculously rich and delicious scalloped potatoes. Plus, I got  to continue my own personal love-hate relationship with lox, and you can almost never go wrong with prime rib. A satisfying mix of fare and value.
