Saturday, Oct. 17, will bring a special anniversary Le Creuset trunk show to Sparrow Hawk Gourmet Cookware, one of only 60 stores in the country to host the event.
Why?
“Because we’re one of the biggest independent dealers in the country; we have a nice clock that Le Creuset presented to us because we’re one of their Top 10 independents,” says Sparrow Hawk vice president Allen Eppley in an interview with the Report. “It’s a huge part of our business. We’ve been doing it for 35 years, so we have a pretty established clientele.
“Even when the national sales manager was in a couple of weeks ago, when we were setting everything up to do this, he took a look at the clock hanging there and he’s like, ‘I’ve only seen two of these so far.’ It’s called a ‘preferred dealer’ level and it’s a pretty rare designation. ”
Festivities will run from noon to 4 p.m., with a variety of promotional offerings joining the wine, cheeses and cooking demonstrations from Le Creuset personnel. There will be a drawing for a limited-edition flame-colored 3.5-quart round casserole that mimics the company’s first piece, and the first 100 people will receive something they can send to Le Creuset in exchange for a small ceramic version of the same design.
“They’ve already sent me some of the pieces that will only be available during the show like a wood-handled sauté pan, and an iron-handle sauce pan, and an ebelskiver pan that are not actually part of the line,” says Eppley. “And they’ll let people basically order them only during the show.”
